The Kessler Center School is a New York State-approved private special education school offering day and residential placements for students ages 5–21 with developmental disabilities. Licensed by NYSED and OPWDD and serving as one of just nine Certified Residential Schools (CRPs) in New York State, we serve students from across the state who need highly individualized support, including those with autism, co-occurring diagnoses and complex behavioral needs.

The residential program at The Kessler Center School is comprised of Intermediate Care Facility homes licensed as Children’s Residential Project (CRP) beds through the New York State Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD).
Students live in one of three 8-bed homes on campus, where structured routines and clinical support reinforce life skills, emotional growth and community integration, extending learning beyond the classroom.

Shared staffing across school and residence ensures continuity, with clinical teams and teaching assistants supporting smooth transitions and consistent behavior plans.
The Kessler Center School’s 12-month day school program is designed to meet each student’s unique educational and clinical needs. Every aspect of the school day is intentionally designed to promote emotional regulation, skill acquisition and meaningful engagement. Collaboration with families and caregivers ensures consistency across settings and reinforces student progress beyond the classroom.
